Your Dentist in Worthington Explains the Benefits of CEREC Technology
July 15, 2017
Being told you need to have a tooth repaired is never ideal, especially when you have to make time in your hectic schedule for the appointment — or in some cases — multiple appointments. If you need a dental crown or bridge, Dr. LJ is proud to offer same-day service using the state-of-the-art CEREC system. No follow-up appointments. No temporary crown. Just one visit to our Worthington dental office — lasting just a couple hours — and you will be on your way with a complete, permanent smile restoration.
As one of the few providers offering same-day crowns in the Worthington, Freeport, and Butler areas, our office is eager to explain the benefits of CEREC technology with new and existing patients.
Why do I Need a Crown?
When you have a tooth that has been fractured, injured, or decayed beyond the scope of a simple dental repair, you may need a dental crown. This type of restoration is designed to fit over the top of your remaining tooth structure, and it replaces your entire tooth. A crown is designed with both the shape and shade of your existing teeth in mind, so you’ll be able to eat, chew, talk, and smile the same as you used to. It also completes your smile with a natural look and matches your other teeth.
What is CEREC Technology?
CEREC utilizes digital technology to take an impression of your tooth. This 3D image is scanned directly to our milling machine located in our Worthington office. Dr. LJ uses this image to design your crown so that it provides you improved function and better aesthetic than you had before.
Once Dr. LJ customizes the crown to fit your tooth, our CEREC machine will then mill your crown right there in the office according to his specifications using high-quality porcelain. Once created, Dr. LJ will permanently place your restoration. You’ll leave this same appointment with a fully functioning, aesthetically pleasing restoration you’ll be proud of.
The Benefits of CEREC
CEREC has streamlined a process that used to take two to four weeks to complete. Not only does this state-of-the-art technology enable restorations to be completed in just one appointment, it also has eliminated the messy impressions of the past. The digital imaging is much more comfortable for our patients and enables a more accurate design and fit. Same-day restorations also are beneficial for emergency patients who may require immediate repair of a broken tooth.
